Thinking in New Directions
Several years ago, Lufthansa founded a Department of Business Development to coordinate and integrate the work of other units. The Marketing and Client Service departments and the New Developments and Information Technologies divisions are now under the control of this new entity.
Logistics. The increasing volume of Lufthansa's
international cargo transportation imposes a new challenge- that
of keeping our finely coordinated land, air and other units functioning
perfectly. We are moving toward creating a unified and integrated
logistic and transportation system within one company. This will
lead to reducing the number of intermediaries who participate in
the chain of air transportation and will further increase service
quality.
Employees:
Our Most Important Resource. New technologies
and systems are only as good as the people who implement them. At
Lufthansa we recognize that our greatest resource is our employees.
We therefore make substantial investment into training and improving
the skills of our personnel around the world. Our Seeheim training
center alone holds more than 150 training courses per year for thousands
of our people from all around the world. The result: the most knowledgeable
and qualified staff of any airline.
Quality Control/ISO 9001. Our internal
quality control group studies every aspect of our operations to
detect potential problems and imperfections. The result is a record
for trouble-free service that is the envy of other airlines. Whether
you import fresh flowers from South America or export titanium and
caviar to Europe, you can be assured that Lufthansa will get your
cargo to its destination securely and on time.
